PALIMPSEST

Palimpsest – something re-used or altered but still bearing visible traces of its earlier form.

Beautiful frescos can be found in Italy, the Middle East and many other places in the world where ancient walls still bear a rich history of figurative images along with layered inscriptions and drawings. Al-tered by time they often re-main like distorted ghosts. Some have been purposefully covered up or erased, but many have reappeared by way of natural erosion, others have been enhanced by more re-cent graffiti.

Old imagery inspires new works. These pictures are  sug-gestive of palimpsest, holding meaning and legacy in their collective presence.
