CHRYSALID
“Chrysalid” documents Regehr’s investigations of transformation and metamorphosis through a body of work which is made up of four related series. Powerful oil paintings reveal figures of mythic stature in the midst of transition. Raw silk drawings convey human chrysalids as they emerge from weavings of moth-like opalescence. Meticulous renderings of the ancient Coelacanth fish, portrayed in Darwinian tableaux, galvanize themes of adaptation, survival, genesis and extinction. The chrysalid nature of mummies is emphasized through the media of ink and prismacolour, and completes “Chrysalid” as a full-circle journey.

SCARECROW
At the crossroads of life, the scarecrow watches the world with eyes both patient and protesting, aware of the paradox of it’s own being – tethered in humanity and brother to the wind.
